V6 Personal Development Day

This week has been a busy time for our co-educational V6 Sixth Form. Year 12 students started off with a jam-packed Personal Development Day with a focus on work experience, finance and apprenticeships. We welcomed a number of speakers in to talk about topics such as:

  • Alternative pathways to Higher Education
  • Student finance & why it shouldn't put you off (de-mystifying student finance)
  • Higher level apprenticeships
  • Drug awareness
  • How to make the most of online Springpod courses

Year 12 had a superb day, with all teachers involved reporting students approached the day with maturity and openness. There was also time in the day for students to research and make their applications for work experience (WEX), higher apprenticeships and university research placements.  A huge congratulations to our sixth formers marking it such a positive day. Year 12 are now targeted to make contact with their desired WEX placements with an email or phone call and we encourage students to remain resilient in the event of a placement being declined or without response – please keep going and apply elsewhere. There will be a big push during the next couple of weeks for students to confirm their placements, and we anticipate many places will be secured by Tuesday 25 February.

We are always looking for additional placement in a variety of different settings. If you are an organisation that can offer our students a placement during the week Monday 30 June to Friday 4 July please let us know by completing this form.
