WHAT WILL YOU STUDY?

This creative and thought-provoking qualification gives students the practical skills, theoretical knowledge and confidence to succeed in a number of careers. Especially those in the creative industries. They will investigate historical, social, cultural, environmental and economic influences on design and technology, whilst enjoying opportunities to put their learning in to practice by producing prototype of their choice. Students will gain a real understanding of what it means to be a designer, alongside the knowledge and skills sought by higher education and employers.

Textiles Technology specifically develops pupils’ communication skills looking at creating effective annotated designs and ideas.  Working with fabrics and stitch, pupils learn how to create functional products using a range of specialist equipment, processes and tools.

FUTURE PATHWAYS

This course will prepare you for most Arts/ Fashion/ Textiles degrees. The specific pathways could be a Fashion Buyer, Fashion Marketing Fashion Journalist, Garment Technologist, Fashion Designer, Theatre CoTrend Predictor, Style Consultant, Fashion Illustrator, Stylist, Interior Designer, Print Designer, Pattern Cutter and so many more.

EXTRA-CURRICULAR

Due to the nature of the course, visits to exhibitions and places of industrial interest are vital to the understanding of product design. These trips are decided based on students' projects and specialists exhibitions that are on.
